In October 2020, despite the challenges and restrictions of COVID-19, IES and Kwethluk were able to safely and successfully install a 250kW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This equipment brings Kwethluk's existing hybrid system to the next level, enabling diesel-off operation and a providing a measure of stability and energy independence during a time of unpredictability and change.
